It’s EST’s birthday! Bring out the chocolates.

After all, the EST is like a box of chocolates! Why? Well some of you will immediately reply “because ‘you never know what you’re gonna get’!” True, up to a point. You know you’ll get innovation and quality. So far, so predictable – in the best possible way. After all, you’d choose a box of chocolates you’d expect to be reliably high quality, wouldn’t you? So, we go to EST as we would a favourite brand.

We can also be assured of variety. There’s something for everyone. They offer up their research findings in a way that says “here’s something for you. Do take it. You’ll like it, you really will!” After all, they’re soft-centred.

There is fabulous packaging – they make us want to open the box. Then there’s clear information. With EST, you don’t run the risk of picking out something that looks like a caramel crunch but turns out to be (horror of horrors) a strawberry cream.

What’s more, they make research FUN! I think they have listened to fiction’s most famous chocolatier, Willy Wonka: “A little nonsense now and then, is relished by the wisest men!”

So I’m really very fond(ant) of them, though they sometimes make me ‘ganache’ my teeth when they do something I wish I’d thought of first!

This is all just a bit of nonsense to say, in all seriousness, how much I enjoy seeing the creative ways with which they make their research accessible, as someone who is also on a mission to do this. We first crossed paths only four years or so ago and I would love to do more with them.

My favourite thing they’ve done recently is to develop a board game to share their research findings on animal therapy with care home staff whilst the most memorable is perhaps their 12 Days of EST-mas from last year!

If you haven’t already sampled the delights of EST for yourselves, wait no longer! Which is your favourite?

Happy Birthday EST!
